Instructor Certification Renewals


Certification is good for two (2) years and every two years you will need to go to to renew your ratings.  The NRA no longer mails you a reminder AND you cannot schedule a class beyond your renewal date.

The only requirement to keep you instructor certifications is that you pay the fee every 2 years.  Currently there is no requirement to report a class or to purchase materials.  (Note: A Training Counselor IS required to teach an instructor course every year to keep their certification up).

Note: If you want to renew at the lower price of a NRA member you will need to renew your membership BEFORE renewing your instructor certification.

If you forget to renew and haven’t scheduled a class for a while and you are past the renewal date you’ll need to call the NRA Training and Education department 703-267-1427 to see what can be done.


Your initial certification is good for 2 years and after that to keep your certification current you will need to purchase at least 1 box of books (20) each year.  Questions about this can be answered by contacting the USCCA Instructor Support at (877) 577-4800 (M-F 8am-5pm / Sat 9am-2pm CST)


Remember these are the minimum requirements to keep your certification and does not include continuing education you should be doing to improve yourself and improve the quality of the class you deliver to your students.
